Instruments that are not out on hire earn nothing. Muse Rent puts them in front of players in your own area who need something for a week, a session or a term — without you building a rental desk, taking card details or chasing anyone for a deposit.

When one of your instruments is rented you keep the rental fee less a 15% platform fee. There is no listing charge and nothing to pay before a booking happens.

Every booking also places a security deposit hold on the renter's card for 25% of the value you declare for that instrument. It is an authorization hold, not a charge — the renter is never billed for it unless a condition claim is approved.

You are paid 7 days after a return is confirmed. That gap is the window in which a condition problem can still be raised, and it is why the money is held rather than released the moment an instrument comes back.

You publish a listing with photos, a daily rate and the replacement value the deposit is calculated from. A renter asks for the dates they want, and you accept or decline the request yourself — nothing is booked over your head.

When you accept, the rental fee is taken and the deposit hold is placed. At the handoff you both take condition photos of the instrument, and you take another set at the return. Those photos are the record any condition problem is judged against, which is what keeps the argument off your counter.

You confirm the return once the instrument is back and acceptable. The deposit hold is released, and your payout follows 7 days later.
